Spotlight: Lizabeth Scott, Author of Sweet Destiny

The origin-stories of authors are every bit as fascinating as those of superheroes. How does one “become” a writer? An “author”? Does one need to be sprinkled with magic pixie dust? No. Sometimes, one just needs a chance encounter with a sympathetic soul.

Lizabeth Scott, Author of Sweet Destiny

Lizabeth Scott, Author of Sweet Destiny

Today, I’d like to take a moment to shine a spotlight on Lizabeth Scott, Contemporary Romance Writer and author of Sweet Destiny, the latest installment in her The Royal Vow Series.

Who is Lizabeth Scott? A voracious reader, full-time writer wannabe, wife, mother, and Personal Assistant to her two terrier terrors, Powder and Moxie. Liz is the author of The Royal Vow and Hearts of Gold Series. She’s a Carolina girl who loves sand between her toes as frequently as possible. She’s also known as GumShoeMom on the Geo-Caching circuit. For those who aren’t familiar with it, geo-caching is the adventurous hobby of using GPS geo-location technology to search for and find special “caches” left by fellow hobbyists in remote and beautiful locations.

How did she become a writer? Imagine messaging your favorite author on Facebook just to tell her how much you love her books. Then she messages you back! Over the course of a few months your Facebook relationship develops. Casually, you mention how much you always wanted to write but were too scared to ever try. Now, imagine your author crush tells you to put up or shut up! “Write a paragraph,” she says. So you do, eventually. Now imagine that this “real” author liked that paragraph and wanted more!

This is exactly what happened to Liz, and it kept up until she had a 40K-word book under her belt. Thus, Sweet Surrender, the first book in her Royal Vow Series was born. Flash-forward two years, and Lizabeth is now the author of six books in that series, as well as the three-book series, Hearts of Gold.

In Liz’s own words:

Sweet Surrender was never supposed to be a series, it was only an experiment to see if I could fulfill a dream. Nobody was more stunned than I when readers actually liked the story! Even people I didn’t know!

How many writers have started off with nothing more than a dream and a willingness to experiment?

Sweet Destiny

Her most recent book, Sweet Destiny, was published on April 1, 2016 as a surprise to thank her many readers for taking a chance on a new author.

Lizabeth: The story of Mari and Ki began in the Royal Vow Series: Sweet Surrender. As I finished what I thought to be the last book of the series, Sweet Temptation, I discovered Mari and Ki had another story to tell.

The story of Sweet Destiny is broken into two parts, included together in one volume.

Sweet Destiny Part One: The King’s Sweet Revenge

Sweet Destiny CoverMari and Ki are just as much in love today as they were seven years ago when they first fell in love. As the King and Queen of Tanistan they’re faced with many of the same issues as most married couples. Their time is not their own and commitments and work keep them apart much too often.

After three children Mari is beginning to feel as if she doesn’t measure up to the expectations of her husband or of her country. When Ki cancels yet another private dinner to go out of town with his very attractive and size two assistant Mari overfills her schedule to keep the silly voices in her head silent.

Sweet Destiny Part Two: The Queen’s Sweet Return

Mari and Ki are faced with the challenge of rebuilding their marriage. Would they fall in love a second time? Were they really destined to be together?

While Mari and Ki still have the same explosive chemistry, Mari can’t help but wonder which woman lay in his arms and in his heart.
