Friday: The Thirteenth Question with Kimberly Vanderbloom

Kimberly Vanderbloom, book reviewer extraordinare, has been gracious enough to sit for an interview and tell us a little about herself, her favorite books, and how she came to be a book reviewer

MED: Kimberly, thanks so much for joining me. Where are you from?

KV: I’m from Westminster, Colorado.

MED: Please tell us a little about yourself: What are your favorite flowers? What is your education / family life like? Etc.

KV: I don’t really have a favorite flower. I like unusual flowers that catch your eye. I graduated from high school and have some college under my belt. I never finished college because I met a bad boy and focused all of my attention on him.

MED: How long they have been reviewing or blogging? What inspired you to review your first (or latest) book / write your first blog?

KV: I started reviewing in March of 2015. I go to the bookstore every Tuesday to buy a new book. I would pick up books and google them to see how they were rated. I kept ending up on Goodreads so I made a profile. I noticed everyone was writing reviews so I gave it a go.

MED: Would you like to be famous? In what way?

KV: I would not want to be famous. I couldn’t stand the lack of privacy. I like to wear pajamas to Walmart with crazy hair. I couldn’t get away with that if I was famous.

MED: What is your most treasured memory?

KV: My most treasured memory of my lifetime was after I gave birth to my daughter. They put her on my chest and I finally got to meet the love of my life.

MED: What book are you reading now?

KV: I’m currently reading EERIE by C.M. McCoy.

MED: Please tell us, what are the Top 5 books you read in 2015?

KV:

  • Ice by Jessica Wren
  • Rising Tide by Claudette Melanson
  • The Dragon Dreamer by J.S. Burke
  • Blade of the Destroyer by Andy Peloquin
  • Niko by Kayti Nika Raet

MED: And please, what are the Top 5 books you want to read in the New Year (2016)?

KV:

  • The Solomon Project by Jessica Wren
  • Bloodmarked by Lu Whitley
  • Cloak of Shadows by CK Dawn
  • Hell Freezes Over by Lance Tuck
  • A Fine Line series by J.C. Brennan

MED: As a book reviewer, do you have any advice for writers?

KV: Get a good cover. I will buy a book based off the cover.

MED: How long have you been a member of Author Promo Co-Op / #IndieBooksBeSeen?

KV: I became a member in July of 2015.

MED: What do you like most about being a member of Author Promo Co-Op / #IndieBooksBeSeen?

KV: I really enjoy how helpful and kind everyone is. It has also helped me realize the struggles authors go through. I think I appreciate what I’m reading a lot more now that I have a better understanding of the process.

MED: Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?

KV: Seeing that everyone I love was put of the house I would grab my signed copies of Rising Tide and Undertow by Claudette Melanson. I treasure them so much.

MED: How can we follow your book reviews? (links to blog, twitter, facebook, amazon author, and other pages)

KV: You can look me up on Goodreads. My profile name is Kimberly Vanderbloom and I’m easy to find. I’m the moderator of Science Fiction / Dystopian / Horror thread for Trail-Mixers group on Goodreads.

Kimberly, thank you so much for taking the time to share a little about yourself with us. Continued good fortune with the book reviews, and thank you so much for your support of the Indie Author movement!
